Bur Oak Music Invitational Festival

The Bur Oak Music program is excited to be welcoming our elementary feeder schools to Bur Oak. Our elementary partners will be joining us April 15 and April 16 to participate in a non-competitive music festival.

Students from Fred Varley P.S., John McCrae P.S., Wismer P.S., Donald Cousens P.S., and Mount Joy P.S. will be joining us over the two days of music and learning.

We are looking forward to hosting the Bur Oak Music Invitational Festival and to hearing everyone perform. Good luck!

Montreal Performance Tour

The Bur Oak Music program is excited to be participating in a performance tour to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. 71 grade 11 and 12 students will be travelling to Montreal beginning April 30th and will be returning May 3rd.

Students will be seeing a symphony performance at La Maison Symphonique, performing at Le Monastere, attending a workshop at McGill University, touring Ponte-a-Calliere Museum, touring the McCord Museum of Canadian History, and seeing the Montreal Opera at Place des Arts.

We are looking forward to an amazing trip and making some wonderful memories.

Mitchell Pady comes to Bur Oak

The Bur Oak Music program is pleased to welcome Mitchell Pady, Conductor & Tenor, to the program to work with the Massed Choir on Monday, April 13.

A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Mitchell Pady pursued his studies in composition and voice. He has performed and participated in many festivals and conferences including the national conductors’ conference run by the Association of Canadian Orchestras. He has been a choral adjudicator for the Ontario Music Festivals Association, Music Fest Canada, the Toronto District School Board Music Festival and Kiwanis Music Festivals across southern Ontario. During the last six years Mitchell has worked with teachers and students as a choral clinician for a number of professional development workshops across the Toronto District School Board.

Mitchell sings professionally with choral ensembles in the Toronto area including the Elmer Iseler Singers, Amadeus Choir, and Aradia Ensemble and Choir 21. He has been featured as a pop's soloist under the baton of Howard Cable and as a jazz singer with various ensembles across the city. Mitchell has recorded for the Naxos, Perimeter Records and Centrediscs labels.

He is presently Artistic Director of the Oriana Singers and conductor of The Cellar Singers, succeeding Albert Greer who retired in May 2012.
