Bur Oak Music Upcoming Events

OBA Provincial Band Festival

Tuesday, February 11, 2025

The Bur Oak Music programme is excited to, once again, participate in the Ontario Band Association's "Provincial Band Festival" in February.  Please mark your calendars:

Senior Wind Ensemble - Tuesday, February 11 @ 5:40 p.m.  Student call time is 4:40 p.m.

Grade 9 Concert Band - Thursday, February 13 @ 5:30 p.m.  Student call time is 4:30 p.m.

These festivals are a wonderful opportunity to hear other bands perform, receive a valuable adjudication from an esteemed clinician, and participate in an authentic assessment for students’ repertoire course.

Students are asked to please arrange their own transportation to and from the venue. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the festival, and are permitted in the auditorium free of charge.

Band performers are also reminded to wear their appropriate uniforms: white collared dress shirts; black dress pants/skirts; black dress socks/nylons; black dress shoes; Bur Oak Music sweater. Failure to wear the appropriate attire will result in students being unable to participate in the festival.

Thank you for your continued support.

Bur Oak Competes at Kiwanis Music Festival

Thursday, February 20, 2025

The Bur Oak Music programme is so excited to be competing in the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto again this year.  Our bands and choirs have been working hard all year, and are looking forward to performing alongside other schools in the city.

Both the Grade 9 Concert Band and the Senior Wind Ensemble are competing Thursday, February 20th.  Students are called to the music room for 8:15 a.m. and will be departing by bus at 8:45 a.m.  The two classes occur 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., and we should be back to the school around 1:30 p.m.

The Choir is competing on Wednesday, February 26th.  Singers are also called to the music room for 8:15 a.m. to depart at 8:45 a.m.  The choral class is 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., which should get us back to the school around 1:00 p.m.

Students are reminded to make sure they are wearing their full concert uniform to school that day.  Students should also bring a packed lunch to eat when we return from the festival, along with an easy, light snack to have at the festival.

Looking forward to participating in the Kiwanis Music Festival.
